Spring Wellness Challenge 2015

SIX WEEKS to go head-to-head vs other Teams of Four for ultimate victory and cold, hard, cash!
During this challenge team mates will be accumulating points for drinking enough water, eating clean foods, exercising, napping, taking fish oil, stretching, doing good for self, doing good for others, food prep, food sharing, workout attendance, recreating and more! Don’t let a weekend/week away keep you from signing up….there are tons of ways to help your team mates gain points.
As always, the emphasis of this challenge is learning to live a SUSTAINABLE, healthy lifestyle that supports your health and athletic endeavors. Topics this time around will include:
FOOD: What the heck is it? Why are protein, fat and carbohydrates? What is important about hormones for optimal body function? Do food choices matter? What about supplements?
HABITS: How do our brains’ create them? How do we change them? How do we make healthy practice automatic?
PORTION CONTROL: How should I eat for fat loss, lean mass gain, maintenance, fueling specific activities (ie endurance, olympic weightlifting, etc)? Do macros matter?
EXERCISE: Why is resistance training, HIIT and long duration conditioning? Why are they important and which is best for me?
STRESS and RECOVERY: Why is there an emphasis on proper sleep and recovery? How much can I exercise? How can I mitigate daily stress? Stress and weight gain/loss.
INTERMITTENT FASTING, MACRO COUNTING, THE COST OF BEING LEAN: Answers to questions about the latest dieting trends.
Informational Classes will be held at 8:30 AM on Sundays, followed by a workout at 9:00 AM. Classes and participation in workouts are not mandatory but will be an opportunity to score MEGA points. Team mates DO NOT need to be members at DSC, HCCF, or DSCW. They are welcome to join SUNDAY CLASS ONLY and will need to sign a waiver to do so. For those of you working with people you know could use a change in their lives and a fantastic community to support them…now is the time to recruit!
The price for the challenge is $400/team and will include the classes, workouts and email support from Tara (Precision Nutrition Certified Coach) to manipulate and individualize your plan as necessary. You can ask questions, have her review your food journal or make suggestions on how to sustainably reach your goals. You will receive weekly recipe ideas, grocery lists and helpful articles to get you on the track to a better version of you by June 12th.
All Challenge participants will nominate a Team Captain who will take all “Before” pictures (front/back/side) and measurements. They will send in a weekly tally of team points for competition. They will also be responsible for “After” pictures and measurements being submitted for consideration for challenge prizes.
