January 2016, Athlete of the Month: Inga Cox

Congrats to Inga Cox for being our FIRST Athlete of the Month for 2016.

Inga is committed to the program, makes no excuses, and has an amazing work ethic.  She also has a TON of fun in the gym, and is always smiling, or dancing through workouts.  We love her positive energy, hard-working attitude, and her ability to bring fun to every class.

Q:  How long have you been at Defiance S&C?

A:  I believe I started a year ago, sometime in January of 2015.

Q:   Where were you born and raised?

A:  I was born and raised in Slovakia.

Q:  What do you do for work?

A:  I am a hairstylist and a make up artist.

Q:   What are your current goals? (Professionally, Outside of the gym, and in the gym)

A:  I would like to study yoga on a deeper level, perhaps even get a level one certification under my belt. Bring the fluency of my German back, and learn Spanish…well now I am getting really ambitious here. Physically get stronger and raise my endurance, I suck at running!
Q: What is your “Spirit Animal?”

A: An Owl? I know its a bad omen in many cultures, representing death and many other misfortunes, but I love the sound she makes and the wisdom she represents.  Call me weird 🙂

Q:  What is your favorite food?

A:  Hmm, that’s a tough one, I love food in general… Tuna tartar and anchovies for afternoon snack.

Q: What is your favorite type of workout or lift?

A: Wall ball shots

Q: What is your least favorite workout or lift?

A:  Power clean

Q:  What were you doing for exercise before started at Defiance?

A: Honestly I don’t remember, some yoga, a run here and there, mostly nothing.

Q:  What activities do you enjoy doing outside the gym?

Tango Argentino, skiing, yoga.

Q:  How if at all, has Defiance S&C changed your life?

A: I was able to train my brain into a habitual response when working out comes to mind. My brain does not object or make excuses any longer it’s just something I do, period!

Q:  How would you describe Defiance and your experiences at Defiance with someone who is interested in trying it out?

A:  It’s like this, if you’re an extrovert you’ll love it because it’s fun and empowering, if you’re more of an introvert you’ll feel empowered and safe, because it’s unpretentious and supportive. It’s like meeting members of family every time you show up. Coaches are extremely knowledgeable and skilled in navigating large group of members from different walks of life and fitness level. This is your gym for 2016 and beyond!
